We need an experienced technical trainer to teach infrastructure classes in our Bloomington, Illinois Education Center. We maintain a high quality of instruction by requiring all of our instructors to have hands-on experience supporting an IT environment. You will be based in Bloomington but will also teach classes in Springfield about one week a month. Some overnight travel will be necessary; overtime is minimal.
We require LRS instructors to be certified by Microsoft for specific courses and to teach from Official Microsoft Learning Products. Courseware is downloadable and you will be responsible for keeping courseware current. You will also teach several non-Official Microsoft Learning Products courses, including CompTia A+, Network+ and Security+.
Typically you will spend about 70% of your time teaching courses. The remainder of your time will be spent preparing for classes, including observing other courses, working with our lab equipment, studying for exams and taking certification exams. You will also work with our sales staff on presentations to potential LRS clients.
Instructors are responsible for preparing their classrooms. Occasionally you will prepare a classroom for another instructor. Instructors have access to the setup guides and software necessary to prepare the classroom. Classroom setup is usually completed on Friday afternoons, although occasional weekend setup may be required.
Courses range in length from one to five days and generally run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with an hour break. You may also have to teach occasional evening or Saturday classes. Most courses are taught at an LRS education center although we do offer courses at client locations.
LRS Education Services provides quality, hands-on, instructor-led, information technology education solutions to individuals and mid-sized and large organizations. LRS Education Services is a Microsoft Gold Partner for Learning, Certified EC-Council Training Partner and an Authorized Pearson VUE Testing Center (APTC). LRS offers a variety of other courses including CompTIA A+ and Network+, Cisco Certification, Crystal Reports, web development, as well as, office productivity courses in Microsoft Office and Adobe products.
Compensation consists of a base salary plus a defined bonus plan.
* Obtain certifications: Within your first sixty days, study for and obtain any required certifications. Remain current on network industry trends, technologies, certifications and curriculums.
* Deliver curriculum instruction: Within your first sixty days, instruct assigned classes under the supervision of your manager. On an ongoing basis, work with other LRS instructors on preparing for and delivering classes. Within your first thirty days, prepare classrooms for other instructors and observe other LRS instructors during classroom instruction. On an ongoing basis, make material and course improvement recommendations based on colleague and student feedback.
* Create a positive learning environment: Maintain a professional classroom atmosphere by listening and responding to your students in a manner that maintains and enhances self-esteem and encourages student involvement and learning.
* Assist the sales staff: Within your first thirty days, thoroughly learn the services that LRS Education Services provides and demonstrate your knowledge by discussing them with your supervisor and colleagues. On an ongoing basis, work with the Education Services sales staff by answering customer questions regarding classes and certification.
Your success will be judged by your ability to utilize your prior work experience to effectively teach students how to improve their skills and become more productive in their computing environments.
Organization Structure and Interfaces:
The Education Services group has eight employees. A Springfield-based manager oversees the group. four certified instructors (two based in Springfield and two in Bloomington) and one administrative support staff are in the group. The sales group currently has two sales representatives - one based in Springfield and one based in Bloomington. LRS Education Services’ team of certified, experienced instructors bring over 50 years of practical, real-world expertise to our students and promote a positive learning environment in our state-of-the-art, hands-on lab classrooms.
The group maintains working relationships with several local colleges to promote information technology to a new audience.

You must have at least 2 years teaching technical courses. You must hold industry certifications (e.g. CompTIA, Microsoft MCSE).
You will need to have your Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) certification. If you do not already have this, you must be willing to complete this within 6 months of your start. Relevant certifications such as MCSE help demonstrate your mastery of technologies and is required to acquire the MCT credential.
During classroom setup, you will need to lift PCs and other computer related equipment.
Microsoft System Center and Private Cloud certification and experience make you a stronger candidate as will networking experience with Microsoft and Linux technologies. ITIL Foundation Certification will make you a stronger candidate.
