The Technical Writer will: - Be responsible for writing very detailed technical documents, such as: network diagrams, continuity of operations guides, data dictionaries, software installation guides and technical specifications.- Assist Business Analysts and System Engineers in documenting business requirements. - Assist development teams to produce documentation for a software developer audience in association with the agency Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including system requirements, software design specifications, technical specifications, "best practice" guidelines for application developers, and documents (that include code) that show developers how to enable user-facing applications to communicate with non-user-facing components. - Contribute to documents for a high-level business decision-maker audience, including (but not limited to) comprehensive and executive-level technical summaries, and justification-of-purchase requests.- Review and annotate High Level Business Requirements (HLBR) for consistency to support cost and level of effort estimation.- Write technical documentation required to support development efforts- Edit documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency, to improve structure, and to ensure professional editorial standards are met. - Attend meetings and/or interview subject matter experts engaged in software development projects to acquire and synthesize information to develop technical documents. - Establish and adhere to standards for various technical documents. - Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing- Must have experience not only re-writing documentation written by others, but also experience writing (for example) business requirements- Experience proofing, editing, and polishing technical documents - Strong Microsoft Office Professional skills, including Word, Visio, and PowerPoint- Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in English (written & verbal)
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science - Ability to understand and explain highly technical information and translate it for stakeholders with a nontechnical background- Familiarity with IT-related artifacts, such as architecture diagrams, use cases, activity diagrams, etc.- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban, etc.- Experience with IBM Rational
