The Linux Network Engineer will:- Be responsible for carrying out daily hardware and software monitoring tasks, configuring and reacting to hardware and software alerts, datacenter equipment updates and patching, performing maintenance, and assessing environmental security. - Act as the escalation point for all Lab Tenants and Lab Clients. This role will escalate technical issues to the Advanced Engineering Lab Operations Engineers. This position reports to the Advanced Engineering Labs Service Assurance Manager. Technical training may be required. - Be required to participate in emergency/on-call/afterhours support. If/when emergencies arise it is expected that LSA Engineers will be available, with the understanding that a fair balance of time will be adjusted/maintained when non- standard hours are called for.- Monitor and provide Fault Detection on all designated network devices and servers. - Facilitate monitoring of air-conditioning, UPS, generators, power usage, running health and safety.- Perform initial triage, troubleshooting, and resolution on detected faults.- Complete Lab Tenant and Lab Client support and ticket resolution. - Assist Lab Tenant and Lab Client Communications on break/fix and scheduled maintenance.- Complete Lab Tenant and Lab Client resolution / escalation calls and outage management. - Perform Lab/Datacenter core switching and routing upgrade and maintenance as directed by Lab Operations Engineers. - Administer RHEL Linux systems. - Perform Internal Security Assessments on Advanced Engineering Labs Equipment and entire environment as directed by the Advanced Engineering Labs Security Engineer.- Create and maintain technical documentation of processes and procedures used throughout normal service assurance operations. - Develop knowledge and skills in network and system administration, particularly with regard to Advanced Engineering Labs architecture, platforms, and environments.To apply, please submit your resume to hropp@LRS.com. - 1+ years of experience in a Technical Support or similar role (MSO experience preferred)- Basic Linux CLI skills- Basic system administration skills- CCIE or CCNA with a specialization- Knowledge of the OSI model, switching and internet routing technologies (to junior network administrator level)- Experience with switching and internet routing technologies- Strong network diagnostic skills- Knowledge of Linux kernel, command line and system diagnostics (to junior sysadmin level)- Experience configuring internet applications such as Apache, Exim, BIND- Understanding of network monitoring concepts and management tools- Experience with network monitoring tools and protocols (SNMP)- Experience with scripting basics- Experience with scripting (Perl, Bash) and other web application languages (SQL,PHP)- Experience analyzing system and network performance using monitoring and graphical data- Experience diagnosing network and service issues, following them through to resolution - Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in English (written & verbal)- Candidate must have permanent authorization to work in the USA for any employer- Corp to corp candidates will not be considered
