The System Administrator will:- Be responsible for maintaining all Service Assurance tools, permissions, installation/configuration, provisioning, operation, and maintenance, which includes hardware, software and other related infrastructure. - Support all lab teams that utilize the lab service assurance tools suite and will provide technical support to enable continuing innovation of lab service assurance systems. - Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values. - Serve as a technical advisor and the primary implementer for new requested capabilities and will provide recommendations on application upgrades and best practices.- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.- Provision/install/configure existing and new systems to support existing service assurance solutions and on-going development efforts.- Manage user permissions to tools according to the needs of projects and teams.- Perform application and system administration tasks including data backups and scheduled jobs.- Have the ability to lead and provide technical assistance and/or training in using the tools in the Labs Service Assurance suite and other tools as identified.- Work closely with other teams to define best practices for using lab tools across the organization and company.- Test new versions of the tools and plugins to ensure compatibility. - Establish and maintain documentation for all of the Lab’s service assurance tools. - Research and utilize industry methods and techniques.- Foster strategic relationships across the industry and technology vendors to anticipate and plan for emerging opportunities and threats. - Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline - Unix System Administration experience in installing applications on VMs, monitoring performance, tailing logs, etc. required- Experience as an application systems administrator- Linux OS System administration experience, general system administration experience- Understanding of good Test Processes- Experience working within Build/Release Management - Experience building and maintaining systems in VMWare/VSphere - Candidate must be able to effectively communicate in English (written & verbal)- Candidate must have permanent authorization to work in the USA for any employer- Corp to corp candidates will not be considered
- Knowledge of Agile, Continuous Integration practices strongly preferred- System Administration- Prefer a minimum of 4 years experience with MSO, Telco, Service Provider, Data Center or equivalent- Experience in performing new software installations and migrations preferred- Experience with test tools (TestRail, HPQC, test automation tools, etc.) and code repository tools- LDAP integration experience- Knowledge of Service Provider / MSO system technologies- Strong experience with CLI, UNIX shells (e.g. BASH, CSH, etc.), shell scripting, various OS level daemon services including but not limited to SMTP, SNMP, NTP, DNS, crond, PAM, HTTPd, etc.
