The Xerox-LRS alliance grew from the needs of some LRS® customers to route Xerox data streams from their OS/390 mainframes to appropriate output devices throughout the organization.
Previously, organizations with legacy applications generating LCDS output were limited to print output using channel-attached local printers or RJE print stations. This environment requires that they maintain SNA controllers and RJE hardware just to keep printing LCDS output. Xerox recommended an LRS solution to print LCDS output by routing LCDS print jobs directly from the JES spool on the OS/390 host to LCDS printers and servers over TCP/IP networks. The solution removes the need for costly channel or RJE hardware dedicated to printing.
LRS also introduced a solution to convert XES output and eliminate the need to rewrite online applications to remove imbedded XES commands.
Now our companies share a global relationship. Xerox and LRS regularly test solutions together, especially concerning mainframe and legacy output as well as printing hardware, connectivity, and data stream conversions. LRS software resides on the mainframe as well as next to the EPS controller to create a complete end-to-end output management solution with superior control, security, and other features.
LRS Output Management solutions on z/OS, UNIX, Linux, and Windows provide Xerox print operations with a cost effective, single-vendor solution to securely handle their output delivery and data stream conversion requirements.
