Northern Arizona University's Head Coach Named Coach of the Year
Mike Adras has been selected the Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year by his league peers. This has been after guiding his team to the Big Sky Conference regular-season title. This is the first Big Sky Coach of the Year in his seven seasons at Northern Arizona.
This season Northern Arizona went 12-2 in Big Sky Conference play, winning the regular-season title for the first time since 1998. Northern Arizona was picked to finish fourth by the coaches and fifth by the media in the preseason polls. Northern Arizona's regular season ended 21-10. Those 21 victories tie the record for the most wins in school history.
During the regular season, Northern Arizona enjoyed a 10-game winning streak. At the time, it was the longest winning streak in the nation. They also went 7-0 at home in conference, and won their first seven conference games.
On January 7th Coach Adras earned his 100th career victory, has a career record of 111-93, and is one of only 13 coaches in Big Sky history with over 100 career wins.
In addition to being named Big Sky Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year, Adras is one of 15 finalists for the Hugh Durham Award, given to the top mid-major coach.
