Northern Arizona University Men's and Women's basketball teams see post-season action
Two LRSSports® customers' teams at Northern Arizona University have earned trips to tournament play. Both the men's and the women's basketball teams have earned trips to their tournaments.
Northern Arizona University men's basketball was awarded a No. 9 seed in the National Invitation Tournament. The Lumberjackes ended their regular season with a 21-10 record, earning the Big Sky Conference and advancing to the IT Tournament. Those 21 victories tie the record for the most wins in school history. During the regular season, Northern Arizona enjoyed a 10-game winning streak. At the time, it was the longest winning streak in the nation. They also went 7-0 at home in conference, and won their first seven conference games.
The team was picked to finish fourth by the coaches and fifth by the media in the preseason polls. Northern Arizona's regular season ended 21-10.
Team Head Coach Mike Adras has been selected the Big Sky Conference Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year by his league peers.
Northern Arizona University women's basketball team was awarded a No. 14 seed in the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament. This is the first trip to the NCAA, coming after their first-ever Big Sky Tournament title this past weekend. The Lumberjacks, led by Head Coach Laurie Kelly, were the first three seed to ever win the title, and the first team to ever take home the trophy by winning three games at the tournament.
