Live From CSVA, It’s DA Edge!
On May 11, LRS Sports unleashed the 1.1 version of LRS Sports Edge at the Collegiate Video Coordinators Association (CSVA) Annual Conference in Schaumburg, Illinois with a little help from DA SUPER FANS from the Windy City.
With the help of improvisational troupe ComedySportz Chicago, LRS Sports unveiled the newest version of its Edge software to the CSVA attendees. Dan McCain, Senior Manager of LRS Sports began by announcing he would be delivering a 20-minute Power Point presentation about Edge, the groans were deafening from the CSVA audience, but not for long. Seconds later, Donny Victor, his brother Felix (aka Fieldpak) and Carl Watchsportsky burst into the room, and in full Super Fan regalia, high-jacked the meeting from McCain. The Super Fans dressed McCain in Super Fan gear—Edge jersey, beer mug, polish sausage, sunglasses, moustache and hat— and then presented the Super Fan Show all about LRS Sports DA EDGE!
When Chris Allen joined DA EDGE Show to explain the many features in Edge, Felix was so excited about DA EDGE that he had a heart attack on the spot, one of the Super Fans’ most famous gags. Throughout Felix’s ‘coronary,’ McCain remained focused on whether Felix had bought the software yet!
“By the end of the CSVA conference, we had completed 20 or so demos of the latest version of Edge,” says McCain. “That represents about a third of the schools that were in attendance and all the feedback we heard from the guys was positive. The CSVA guys are the ones who use video editing software every day, so it was important to get them excited about and in front of our new product.”

Featuring Edge—Create Bookmarks with Ease
|
Bookmarks are a great way for you to avoid all the extra clicks to get to the video you always want to watch. So if you have a favorite cutups folder or certain games that you want to get to with one click, simply create a bookmark and go to your video immediately. This will save you time and simplify getting your meeting started.
It’s easy to do in Edge. Go to the area you want to bookmark and hit the bookmark icon. Then simply name it anything you want. Each coach can have their own set of bookmarks so it’s completely personalized. It’s that easy!

Pre-Season Support Checklist
- Delete as much old video as possible. As the season progresses, remember that it’s imperative to maintain at least 20% free space on your :X and/or :Y drives for maximum system performance. When free space falls below 20%, it’s common to experience choppy video and other system problems.
- Run multiple defragmentation passes on your storage, over successive days. When drives become heavily fragmented, multiple passes (sometimes five or more) are needed to adequately defragment the drives. In conjunction with tip #1, the more free space you have increases the speed and success of defragmentation passes.
- Create your 2010 season project structure.
- Consider replacing your DV tapes prior to the start of the season. Reusing old tapes is a common cause of problems with Scene Detect and/or Live Capture.
As always, please call technical support at (888) 577-9456 for help with these topics, or any issues you may encounter.
