LRS SPORTS EXPANDS RECRUITING SERVICES STAFF AND TERRITORIES

In addition to Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, LRS Sports Recruiting Services has added Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama to our available states. With the addition of these states in the Southeast, LRS Sports Recruiting now has five of the 10 leading states where NFL players come from. To help Dwight Thomas with coverage of these additional states, three new Recruiting Specialists have joined LRS Sports Derrick Crudup, and George Spencer. All three are former players and coaches. They know football in the Southeast. These guys played the game, won national championships, coached NCAA Hall of Champion inductees, and know who the best student athletes are on any given playing field.

NEW LRS SPORTS RECRUITING SERVICES REPRESENTATIVES

Derrick Crudup was an All-American high school quarterback at Boca Raton High School in Boca Raton, Florida. He was recruited in 1983 to play quarterback at the University of Florida, by Mike Shanahan former head coach of the Denver Broncos. Crudup transferred to the Oklahoma Sooners to play for Barry Switzer and won four Big Eight championships and one National Championship in 1985 with a win over Penn State in the Orange Bowl. Crudup was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 1988, once again by Shanahan. After his playing career ended in 1992, Crudup returned to his Florida roots to coach high school football at Deerfield Beach, Boca Raton, Spanish River, and Pompano Beach high schools for more than 12 years as defensive and offensive coordinator.

Crudup coached a number of Division 1 players and 10 first-round draft choices in the NFL. Crudup’s son Derrick Jr. played quarterback for the University of Miami, and was a member of the 2002 National Championship team that beat out Nebraska to win the Rose Bowl. The Crudups are the only father and son tandem to have won the National Championship in Division 1 College football history.

George Spencer played high school football in Westminster, Maryland. He went on to play college football at Gardner Webb College and graduated from there with a B.S. degree. Spencer coached high school football for 36 years and retired in 2008. He began coaching high school football in Rock Hill, South Carolina then went to Georgia in 1984 to Ware County High School, and also coached at Riverdale and Effingham High Schools.

His teams were in the state playoffs every year he served as head football coach. Spencer still holds a seat on the board of the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA). He’s received several achievement awards from the GACA including the Executive Director’s Award. Throughout his career, he’s coached many scholarship recipients, one who is in the NCAA Hall of Champions, and two NFL players.
