NEW VIDEO EDITING SYSTEM FROM LRS® SPORTS ATTRACTING ATTENTION

Springfield, IL – After a successful premiere at the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) convention, Edge, the new video editing system from LRS Sports, is ready to go out on the road.

“We’re very excited about the overwhelmingly positive reactions we received at AFCA. One coach said ‘Edge is a thousand times better than Ultima,’” states Dan McCain, Senior Manager of LRS Sports. “Now it’s time to go and finish convincing those who saw LRS Sports Edge at AFCA why they need it at their school.”

The next showcase for Edge will be the NFL Combines in Indianapolis in late February.

The LRS Sports team can highlight several Edge advantages when they try to convince coaches that the software is necessary. LRS Sports Edge software is the most advanced sports video software ever built, and also the easiest to use. Using the latest technology, Edge integrates the coaching station, data entry, capture, markup, output of video, and playbook drawing tool into a single software product. The ease of use in making cutups, the ability to search for specific plays or graphics, and the organization of games, graphics and drawings are some of the major capabilities in LRS Sports Edge software.

Edge has also integrated the reporting functionality of FanPro software from Assistant Software Coach. The integration enables Edge to automatically transfer data fields and game data into FanPro. When coaches are studying a tabular report created by FanPro, they can simply click a field in the report to view the plays in Edge.

That type of ease of use was a primary goal for Edge development, according to Chris Allen, Solutions Consultant for LRS Sports.

“The key to making the software easier to use was to enable the coach or video director to have all the power they would ever want in a simplified, streamlined interface,” Allen states. “A secondary goal for us was to eliminate mouse clicks to open a video. A coach should be able to log in and instantly start watching video.”

Coaches have increased their appetite for video; Allen has found that some teams download every game played by every conference team because all that video is readily available. Edge software makes it easy to find the specific games or cutups a coach wants to analyze.

“The key is finding a way to easily organize all this video on your network,” Allen explains. “We have a great solution that will organize all the video simply and easily. That includes high school video for college recruiting, college games, NFL games, and all the practice video.”

Teams that collect a large volume of video will also welcome Edge’s support for true MPEG4/H.264 and Windows Media 9 playback, which will allow them to hold five to 10 times as much video on existing network servers, depending on the desired level of quality. Teams that are buying new computer equipment will also appreciate the fact that Edge was built for Windows 7 compatibility before the release of the operating system, thanks to the LRS partnership with Microsoft.

As Allen notes, “We continue to look at other avenues of technology that aren’t simply bells and whistles, but are the types of advances that are really going to help teams win more games and get their work done faster. Time is always of the essence.”
