LRS is successfully partnering with a company in Commack, NY on an exciting endeavor. This endeavor is providing the opportunity for employment for a Technical Writer. This is a great opportunity to work with two great companies at the same time on a 6 month contract position!
This Technical Writer will carry out facilities and manufacturing equipment Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) creation, revision and subsequent employee training. They will support Commercial Operations activities by assisting the department with the generation of new and revision of existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). They will also draft Facilities system and manufacturing process and equipment SOP’s from concept through the e-Docs approval process and subsequent personnel training. This position will reflect status and progress through the creation, maintenance and distribution of a tracking log.
Primary Job Responsibilities include:
- Develops, writes Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment
- Specialize in writing material regarding work methods and procedures.
- Generate protocols and reports based on the outlines provided by engineers and technical specialists.
- Train personnel after SOP approved.
Additional Job Responsibilities include:
- Interviews production and engineering personnel to become familiar with product technologies and production methods; reviews manufacturer's and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment.
- Receives assignment from supervisor; observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail.
This position is located in Commack, NY and candidates must be willing to reside in the area. Relocation compensation or per diem will not be available for this position. Therefore, the right candidate will be motivated to make a move on their own for this exciting role!

Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years experience with documentation and technical writing
- Must have experience writing SOP's for facilties engineering or manufacturing process and equipment
- Must have a valid driver’s license and have transportation. This position requires travel to client’s other Long Island locations
- Proficiency of computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in team environment
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
Optional Skills:
- Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering
- Prior experience working for a manufacturing company, and familiarity with the equipment used
- Pharmaceutical industry experience or similar
