Job Description:

LRS is successfully partnering with a company in Greenwood Village, CO on an exciting endeavor. This endeavor is providing the opportunity for employment for a Network Engineer. This is a great opportunity to work with two great companies at the same time on a 6 month contract position with possible extensions!

Focus on core architecture solutions for IP networks. Provide direction on network design for various engineering projects providing availability, scalability, performance, reliability, control, and security for applications and services hosted on the customer’s network. Evaluate and test new technologies. Assist engineers in design and architecture within Headend or Data Center networks. In addition to IP network design, may create tools or scripts to be used in the lab.

The Network Engineer in this role will have day to day responsibilities that may include but not be limited to:
• Document the testing of new IOS in the lab with the Ixia test set.
• Set up tests such as multipath Multicast load sharing over multiple links.
• Assist in the development of IP Control. IP Control manages and allocates IP address blocks to the field. The engineer will make sure the development team is configuring the product to meet the needs of the field.
• Assist with the configuring of production routers to testing routing concepts in the lab.
• Responsible for the support of network design, planning, implementation and assistance in the maintenance of all routers and switches to ensure optimum performance.
• Responsible for the development of documentation related to protocol and architectural designs, changes, migration plans, and other technical documentation for supporting staff.
• Responsible for the design, implementation, configuration and maintenance of the network circuit redundancy via layer 2 switching and/or layer 3 routing and assists with design and deployment of Regional and National MPLS/IP core network.

This position is located in Greenwood Village, CO and candidates must be willing to reside in the area. Relocation compensation or per diem will not be available for this position. Therefore, the right candidate will be motivated to make a move on their own for this exciting role!

Requirements:

At least 2 years of experience in the following routing related area’s
• ISIS or OSPF in lieu of ISIS and iBGPv4, eBGPv4
• EoMPLS, MPLS-TE with RSVP
• Cisco 7600’s and CRS-1
• Layer 2 Protocols, CDP, STP ,RSTP MSTP, PV-STP, REP
• Knowledge of MEF Standards and topologies E-LAN, EVPL, E-NNI

Transported Knowledge:
• At least 2 years of experience with Cisco 15454 ROADM (or CWDM) networks, Infinera DTN systems, and PON solutions.
• Knowledge of Characteristics of Light, Properties and Components of Optical Fiber, Reflection, Refraction, and Fiber Types
• Knowledge of Dispersion in DWDM Systems (Harmonics, Measuring Dispersion, Effects of Dispersion on Telecom Signals, Polarization Mode Dispersion, Calculating Dispersion Budget)
• Knowledge of Optical Amplification Options (Design and understand the Functionality of EDFA, Optical Gain, Building Feedback into an Amplifier, Gain Competition, Raman Amplifiers.)
• Knowledge of Factors that Impact Optical System Design (Optical Power, Optical Power Budget, splicing loss, margin tolerances, Optical Attenuation and Loss, Single Channel Power vs. Composite Power, Dispersion, Other NON-linearity’s, and Chirp, source modulation technique.)
• Knowledge in Passive Optical Networks (B-PON/G-PON)
• Knowledge in MUX/DEMUX (CWDM) – Media converters
• Knowledge in GBIC; SFP; XFP; XENPAK;
• Knowledge in OTN FEC networks G.709 Muxpond/Transponding
• Knowledge in SONET (Ethernet over SONET; DSx; OCx, VCAT, LCAS)
• Knowledge in RPR and other Layer 2 protocols.
• Knowledge in PWE3 TDMoIP Edge
• Knowledge in Wireless (Hotspot, Mesh wireless, WiMax, 802.11x

Optional Skills:
Certifications and/or Licenses
