The Long View
Scan2PCX Document Security
When it comes to protecting sensitive information, the most secure document is the one that is never printed in the first place. Online systems like LRS’ PageCenterX® solution eliminate physical document security concerns by applying network security rules to control document access.
But some documents simply must be printed; forms requiring doctors’ signatures or signed legal affidavits, for example. To help companies leverage our secure delivery infrastructure for documents like these, LRS and its partners have developed the Scan2PCX feature of the Innovate/MFPsecure™ solution.
The Scan2PCX solution
The Scan2PCX feature works with the flatbed scanner function of the devices managed by Innovate/MFPsecure. Using the same interface from which they securely retrieve print jobs, end users can scan hardcopy documents and specify a PageCenterX folder for storage. During the scanning process, the users can also enter information about the document (metadata) to simplify later retrieval in the PageCenterX product.
For example, an insurance claims adjuster may have a folder stuffed with information about a customer’s recent automobile accident. While scanning the police reports, crash scene photos, and body shop estimates, she tags each with the driver’s policy ID and incident number to indicate that these documents are part of the same claim.
Scan2PCX users add document metadata directly from the MFD touchscreen.
Integration with the LRS Enterprise Output Server
As discussed in a previous issue of the Output Management Connection, the PageCenterX (PCX) solution is an integral part of LRS’ overall Enterprise Output Server offering. The Innovate/MFPsecure environment encompasses all document delivery channels—hardcopy printing, email delivery, and web viewing—for end to end control.

Like other Innovate/MFPsecure functions, the Scan2PCX feature is currently designed to work with HP’s Open Extensibility Platform (OXP) environment on select multifunction devices.
