Organizations use the VPSX facility to elevate critical status information about documents necessary to their daily operations, tracking them from the application to the print tray, with accurate, complete control and accounting. VPSX can inform users and administrators about printing, helping business processes flow with less interruption.
Keeping Users and Administrators Informed About Printing The VPSX solution offers several methods for providing job and device status notifications. VPSX printer communication protocols, such as PJL/BIP, IPP, or SNMP, dictate the kinds of status information made available about documents and printers. The VPSX monitor and control facility displays all printer and document status information as it is received. This facility provides efficient viewing and control of the entire print environment.
VPSX email notification provides status information on demand. When a user prints, they can opt to receive an email notification about the success, failure, or other types of event information for the document they are printing.
VPSX event notifications can also be passed to an external process. The external event handler uses this information to generate notifications to external system management tools such as IBM Tivoli or HP OpenView, providing feedback to these tools or simply recording event information for further analysis. The information format and selection of job and document events can all be customized.
