SAP Certified VPSX Printing

While document and printer status information can be sent directly to other applications or via email, the SAP certified VPSX/OutputManager module enables the VPSX server to provide real-time print status directly back to SAP application users via the SAP BC-XOM interface.

	When an organization relies on the native SAP printing, they are actually relying on the operating system to manage the print requests. The operating system does not issue status information to users indicating when a print was successful or not. Users must spend time checking the SAP 'List of Spool Requests' screen for status information and this information can be unclear or inaccurate.
Sometimes the printer is not available and the output cannot print. How does the user know what is going on? A call to the helpdesk usually involves the Windows support group. The problem usually ends up being rerouted to the Basis group or UNIX administrators to be resolved. Technical personnel cannot easily determine whether the printer has been switched off, is broken, has overflowed its memory capacity, etc.

Eliminating the Guess Work with SAP Printing
The VPSX solution simplifies printing problems within the SAP environment. Let's say that an end user submits a print request and the target printer is broken. The help desk can immediately be notified when the printer went offline and quickly reroute the job to a nearby printer without the user regenerating and resubmitting the print job. In this example the job was suppose to print at the SUN14000. The job was rerouted within VPSX to the SUN18150 down the hall. The end user is notified where their output printed and the business process is not interrupted. Imagine that this job contains something critical, for example, the shipping labels for a large shipment due this evening. Halting that shipment can be a serious financial dilemma. Organizations find many cost justifications in eliminating expensive print-related interruptions.

Using the VPSX solution removes guessing about whether SAP output has printed.
