SPRINGFIELD, IL – April 1, 2014 –Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc. (LRS) is set to sponsor the upcoming HIStalk webinar/panel discussion Documents, EMRs, and Healthcare Processes on April 16, 11 a.m.-Noon ET. Panelists from Duke University Health System and LRS will discuss the real-world document challenges facing IT departments during a rollout of an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) environment. The panel includes Charles Harris, Senior Technical Lead at Duke University Health System (DUHS), Ron Peel who is a Technical Advisor at LRS, and moderator John Howerter, Senior Vice President Enterprise Output Management at LRS.
This panel discussion will cover the evolving use of documents in the "paperless/less-paper" healthcare environment.
"The implementation of EMR systems in large, distributed healthcare systems can cause IT organizations to overlook the role of document-driven workflows in patient care," states Howerter. "From prescriptions to specimen labels, discharge orders, and more – healthcare IT systems need the ability to reliably deliver critical documents while minimizing the impact on IT and clinical staff."
With many potential risks at stake in these large implementations, the webinar is designed to provide information to help attendees learn:
- Why healthcare and EMR providers often underestimate document use in patient care.
- Which documents may have the most impact on their clinical workflows.
- The business risks of document failures and their effect on both clinicians and patients.
