LRS is excited to announce the release of our new Enterprise-class Software SaaS applications to help you manage your most critical business documents and output. For decades, LRS was known as the leader in mainframe print management software. Then, in the 2000s and 2010s, we set the standard for open systems output management solutions that offered mainframe-like reliability and scalability on UNIX, Linux, Windows, and other POSIX-compliant platforms.
With the introduction of our new cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products, we are proud to offer this same level of functionality, scalability, and reliability without the need to install, configure, and support any on-site servers. This gives organizations the flexibility to provide assured delivery of any document from any application on any platform to any hardcopy or electronic destination.
Powered by Mission Control
At the core of our newly-announced offerings is the LRS Mission Control platform. Introduced in 2023, LRS Mission Control is a web-based platform created to ensure seamless communication between LRS components running in global networks. For customers using our onsite-installed products, LRS Mission Control can be used to augment analytics by providing a real-time view of installed servers and services. It also simplifies license distribution, especially in complex environments.
As part of our new SaaS output management solutions, LRS Mission Control provides the underpinnings for our new offerings that allow you to manage and audit your print environment from the Cloud with no need for onsite services. Today, we are announcing four new SaaS products that provide print management, pull print, scan services, and print auditing functionality—in a seamless, serverless manner.
Total Functionality, Zero Servers
VPSX/DirectPrint Cloud software enables you to build and manage your print environment with no need for onsite servers. While this product name references the familiar term “VPSX,” it is important to understand that this is not the VPSX product. Rather, it is a new Multi-tenant service that combines LRS output management capabilities with the needs of Cloud-based services. With the VPSX/DirectPrint Cloud SaaS, you can manage drivers, printers, locations via floorplans, and all other aspects of workstation printing. These are indeed the same functions we have been handling for decades. However, in this case, we accomplish these tasks without the need for an onsite server, instead requiring only the VPSX/DirectPrint Cloud service interacting with the Personal Print Manager agent.
Pull Printing—Without the Server
We are also announcing the new MFPsecure/Print Cloud solution. MFPsecure functionality allows any user to print to a holding area and then release the job from any qualified MFP with a card, a code, or both (if you prefer a Multi-factor authentication scheme). Like our other new solutions, the MFPsecure/Print Cloud offering is also a multi-tenant SaaS running in our Mission Control platform. MFPsecure/Print Cloud software integrates fully with the VPSX/DirectPrint Cloud service so administrators can easily define and configure their environment from a single screen. There are no onsite servers required, as all server functions run within the Mission Control platform. As with VPSX/DirectPrint Cloud software, there is full integration with LRS’ Personal Print Manager client, giving users a simple method to define printers to a workstation and submit print.
This provides a very secure environment for your enterprise. Personal Print Manager (PPM) software intercepts print jobs at print time and encrypts document data both at rest and while in motion. PPM can then store jobs for release (if you want jobs to be kept locally), send the job to the MFPsecure/Print Cloud service for later release (if you prefer jobs stored in a common area), or deliver documents to the printer directly if this is your preference. In other words, our cloud-based SaaS solutions provide all the same functions that we offer with traditional on-premise solutions, but without the need for onsite servers. All transactions are protected using full authentication and encryption. There is no need for network line-of-site between our SaaS and printers, as we use our well-known and tested methods of Internet-only pull printing to retrieve jobs.
Scan Management With a Difference
Our newly announced SaaS offerings are not only about print, as illustrated by our MFPsecure/Scan Cloud solution. MFPsecure/Scan Cloud software allows your company to get more from your MFP devices by enabling the Scan functions on each device to work with our robust document workflow engine. Users can of course do all the simple things like Scan to email or Scan to storage (OneDrive, Google Drive, File share etc.). However, they can also initiate complex workflows like scanning incoming invoices, extracting information via OCR, and automatically feeding scanned data into business applications. Customizable workflows like these unlock a fully digital workplace experience that increases productivity and automation.
Cloud-based Output Tracking and Auditing
The fourth new offering is our Innovate/Audit Cloud solution, which interacts with all of our products to provide cost and accounting information about your print environment. This product requires no onsite servers or databases; all reporting to Innovate/Audit Cloud is handled automatically. An important point: these reporting & auditing capabilities extend beyond our SaaS solutions and can track output managed with our server-based solutions. Innovate/Audit Cloud reports are PowerBI-based and include both tabular and dashboard interactive reports. Reports can also be downloaded in a variety of formats for deeper analysis with commonly used tools like Excel.
While we have tried to cover the highlights of our new SaaS offerings, this feature-rich environment has far too many features and capabilities to fully discuss them in a blog.
